After the devastating earthquake that destroyed 85% of Lisbon, the neighborhood of Alfama remained standing, and the only way in is on foot. When the city was rebuilt, memories of past civilizations were uncovered, and new symbols were intentionally placed in the architectural design to guide “those who are ready to see.” Come along if you want to learn the secrets.
Walking Tour
Duration: 8 hours
Highlights:
Viewpoints, Chiado, Rossio, Alfama, Cathedral, surroundings of the Castle, and street art in Graça.
Schedule Overview
☼ Meet at São Pedro de Alcântara viewpoint
☼ Walk down the city center with a few stops to see some shops and taste the best custard tarts
☼After lunch get ready for an epic Tuk-Tuk ride to see some street art, other viewpoints and the Castle.
☼From the Castle we will walk into Alfama and end up next to the river.
